02 / A closer look at home privacy
Your home got smarter. Did your settings?
Cameras, speakers, thermostats, and smart plugs all connect to your network. These everyday smart devices are often called the Internet of Things, or IoT. A little attention to how they’re set up can give you more control over the home you’ve connected.
Know what’s on your network.
From the doorbell to the smart plug, connected devices are easy to add and forget. A device review helps you recognize what belongs and spot anything that needs a closer look.
Unused remote access, old accounts, and forgotten devices deserve a second look. Review the features you need, keep devices updated, and disconnect what you no longer use.
I review your router, the smart devices connected to it, and their privacy and security settings. We look at device access, updates, and which features you actually use. We agree on the changes, then check the everyday features you want to keep.
Includes one router, one smart device, a connected-device review, agreed basic settings, and a written summary. Scope and total confirmed before booking.
Your home, understoodExample
A clear record. Made for you to keep.
What a visit summary can look like
Connected devicesReviewed
Smart-device settingsAdjusted
Router settingsChecked
You’ll know what changed. What was found, what we adjusted, and what I recommend next—in plain English.
Illustrative summary. Findings depend on your devices.
Need a more tailored setup? Network separation, custom firewall rules, DNS filtering, additional devices, and new equipment are quoted separately.
Options depend on your equipment. Privacy settings can reduce exposure; they can’t remove every tracking or security risk.
03 / Easy from the first message
A small first step. A noticeable difference.
No technical brief needed. A simple “my Wi-Fi keeps dropping” is a perfectly good place to start.

Hey, I’m Jack.
Your point of contact. And the person doing the work.
Independent expertise. Personal attention.
04 / A person you can reach
Good with technology. Here for people.
You work with me from the first message to the final walkthrough. That means advice with context, careful work, and answers you can actually use.
I work in IT, helping people and businesses troubleshoot the technology they rely on. That means listening to what’s happening, tracing the cause, and working through the fix together—from computer problems to unreliable networks.
I bring that same approach to your home: understand the problem, measure what matters, and explain the solution in plain English. You’ll know what I’m changing and why. If a small upgrade is all you need, that’s what I’ll recommend.
Absolutely. Describe what’s happening or what you want to improve. You don’t need a diagnosis, a parts list, or the right technical words. I’ll help you work out the next step.
What does a privacy audit include?+
The base visit starts at $99 for up to one hour. It covers one router, one smart device, a connected-device review, agreed basic privacy and security settings, and a written summary. Network separation, DNS filtering, extra devices, and hardware are quoted separately. You get the scope and full price before booking.
Will my smart devices still work together?+
We start with the features you want to keep. Some privacy settings and network separation can affect casting or device discovery, so I explain those tradeoffs before changes and check everyday use afterward. What’s possible depends on your router and devices.
Do I need to buy a new router or PC?+
Not necessarily. Settings, placement, or a targeted upgrade may be enough. I review what you have first. If new equipment would help, you receive the recommendation and price before deciding.
Does the PC build fee include parts?+
The $149 fee covers planning, assembly, setup, testing, and installation at home. Hardware is purchased separately, in your name, at cost. Your manufacturer warranties stay with you. Upgrades and repairs are quoted for the work involved.
What if my internet provider is the problem?+
I test the wired connection and Wi-Fi separately. If the internet line or plan is the limit, you receive the measurements and an explanation to take to your provider.
Can you visit my area?+
Include your town or neighborhood in your message. I’ll confirm whether an on-site visit is available before we arrange the work.
